To get a quote for holiday home buildings insurance, you need to provide the rebuild value. This refers to how much it would cost to rebuild the property if it was destroyed and can be calculated using the BCIS calculator.

What types of property are covered?
Any property that meets the definition of a holiday home is covered. Properties that are vacant for more than 30 consecutive days are protected, which is more likely with a holiday home as trips are often seasonal.

How long does my holiday home have to be occupied?
Once a property has been unoccupied for 30 consecutive days it is classed as unoccupied and you will have to adhere to the unoccupancy conditions detailed in your policy to ensure you are covered for the perils stated on your policy. As long as your property is being used as a Holiday Home there is no minimum time this has to be occupied.
